Psychological and Emotional Support

Psychological and emotional support is the foundation of the entire support ecosystem at the Soborna Ukraine Foundation. We believe that healing begins with gently processing traumatic experiences. Only then can people begin to rebuild their lives and shape their future with confidence and intention.
Our support extends to the entire family. A child's recovery is inseparable from the well-being of the adults who care for them. By supporting mothers and caregivers, we help create a stable and nurturing environment where children can heal, grow, and thrive. We approach trauma with care, professionalism, and a long-term perspective, always working at a pace that is safe for each child and adult. Our goal is not a quick fix, but meaningful, lasting recovery. This process helps restore resilience, rebuild a sense of agency, and lay the foundation for long-term well-being and personal growth.

How We Support
We provide support in a variety of formats to meet the needs of every individual and family we serve

Our Approaches
We adhere to internationally recognized ethical standards, respecting each person's dignity, boundaries, and right to their own experiences.
We are committed to protecting the confidentiality of personal information and everything individuals share with our mental health professionals throughout the support process.
We use internationally recognized, validated psychological assessment tools to ensure an evidence-based approach to planning and delivering psychological support.
Every person experiences loss differently. That is why we tailor our support to each individual's needs, age, life experiences, and personal circumstances.
All of our programs are designed with participants' psychological safety at their core, ensuring that the support we provide is thoughtful, appropriate, and beneficial to each person's recovery.
Assessment and Research
Assessment and research are an integral part of the Foundation's psychological support program. We regularly conduct psychological assessments of the children and mothers we support to objectively evaluate their psychological well-being, monitor their progress over time, and measure the effectiveness of our support programs.
The findings not only help us evaluate the impact of our programs, but also enable us to continuously improve our approaches to psychological support, tailor them to the needs of the families we serve, and strengthen the evidence base for the ongoing development of our work.
In its assessment and research activities, the Foundation's team of psychologists uses internationally recognized, validated psychometric instruments, including: ● Children's Revised Impact of Event Scale (CRIES) ● Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) ● Vanderbilt ADHD Diagnostic Rating Scale ● Impact of Event Scale (IES) ● Other standardized assessment tools, selected individually according to each child's or adult's age, needs, and clinical profile. All assessment and research activities are conducted in accordance with the principles of ethics, confidentiality, and voluntary participation.
