Soborna Ukraine Families Make Their Own Flags
Ahead of Ukraine’s National Flag Day, mothers and children from the Soborna Ukraine Foundation community came together to make Ukrainian flags by hand.
For every Ukrainian, the flag has never been simply a combination of two colours. It carries our history, culture, sense of home, and the memory of those who defended Ukraine’s freedom.
This time, mothers and children created their own flags by hand. They worked together on every detail, gradually putting the fabric together into something that will now hold a unique story for each family.
For the children, it was a way to connect with an important Ukrainian symbol through their own experience. For the mothers, it was an opportunity to spend time together and share this moment with their community.
In the end, each family went home with its own flag, something they had created with their own hands and filled with personal memories.
Moments like these create a sense of unity: when we make something together, preserve memory, and pass on to children an understanding of what stands behind the symbols they see.
