Children of Fallen Ukrainian Defenders Escort the National Teams of Ukraine and Albania onto the Pitch
Ten children supported by the Soborna Ukraine Foundation took part in an international football event in Valencia.

Before the friendly match between the national teams of Ukraine and Albania, held as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations, the children had the honor of escorting the players of both teams onto the pitch.
For each of them, the trip was filled with new discoveries. It was their first flight, their first trip abroad, their first time seeing the sea, visiting an oceanographic park, meeting new people, and spending several days in an environment where they could simply enjoy being children, explore the world, and create joyful memories.

The most emotional moment came when they walked onto the pitch alongside the national teams of Ukraine and Albania. For many of the children, football was something they had shared with their fathers. They watched matches together, cheered for the Ukrainian national team, and dreamed of one day standing in a major stadium. After losing their fathers, that dream took on a new meaning. Walking onto the pitch became not only the fulfillment of a childhood dream, but also a quiet way to feel connected to the fathers who remain forever present in their memories.
Recreational programs are an important part of children's long-term recovery after loss. New experiences, a safe environment, and positive experiences help them broaden their sense of what is possible, discover the world around them, and gradually regain the ability to dream.
We sincerely thank CEO Club Ukraine and its members for making this journey possible, as well as the Ukrainian Association of Football for giving these children an experience they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Opportunities like these broaden children's horizons, help them discover new sources of strength, and remind them that even the biggest dreams can come true.
